Overturned big rig spills diesel, prompting road closure on Highway 50 in Sacramento
An overturned big rig spilled nearly 100 gallons of red diesel fuel on Highway 50, causing a road closure in Sacramento, fire officials said.
The Sacramento Fire Department said a semi-truck overturned near the 10th Street offramp on westbound Highway 50. Some of the diesel spilled onto the streets below, but crews stopped it from getting into storm drains, Sac Fire said.
Caltrans said the 16th Street offramp is closed and so are lanes, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.
It is unclear when those lanes or the offramp will reopen.
The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
