FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Fresno is officially marking Dolly Parton’s legacy with a citywide day of recognition tied to her long-running work to promote childhood literacy.
The City of Fresno has proclaimed Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, as Dolly Parton Day, honoring the late singer, philanthropist and humanitarian.
The proclamation recognized Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which has provided millions of free, age-appropriate books to children around the world.
The program launched in Fresno County in February 2025 and has since mailed more than 168,000 books to more than 15,000 local children.
Fresno officials encouraged residents to honor Parton’s legacy by reading with children and supporting literacy efforts.
