The 10-year-old Golden 1 Center is “at the center of a new lawsuit” by the Sacramento Kings’ ownership against project architect AECOM. The suit, filed Tuesday in Sacramento County Superior Court, “blames recently discovered failures in waterproofing in the plaza level outside” the arena on AECOM. The suit claims the team “discovered water intrusion and property damage at several planters in the plaza,” and after investigation, “found problems with blisters, standing water and delamination in the planters’ membranes.” The suit “doesn’t specify exactly when the team found those problems.” The suit, which “requests a jury trial, calls for monetary damages to be proven at trial, attorneys fees and interest” (SACRAMENTO BUSINESS JOURNAL, 9/17).
