A humpback whale has been spotted swimming in the California Delta, with new video capturing the animal near the Rio Vista Bridge.
The whale was originally spotted Tuesday near the Richmond shipping channel.
On Wednesday afternoon, a man fishing near the Rio Vista Bridge in Rio Vista captured video of the whale. He said he initially thought his friend was mistaken about seeing it.
The Delta is no stranger to whales.
In 1985, a whale named Humphrey spent several weeks in the Rio Vista area before eventually returning to the ocean.
In 2007, a mother whale and her calf also spent several weeks in the Delta.
Scientists are asking people to keep their distance from the whale.
