Los Angeles County Library locations will introduce a limited-edition Hello Kitty and Friends library card this week.
“The wait is almost over!” L.A. County Library posted on Facebook while announcing the system’s first collaboration with Sanrio, the Japanese entertainment company best known for creating the Hello Kitty and Friends brand.
Patrons can pick up the new cards beginning Friday at any L.A. County Library location. They will be available through Oct. 18 while supplies last.

The limited-edition cards are free for new members who sign up for a library card. Existing cardholders can request a Hello Kitty and Friends library card for a reduced replacement fee of $1.
There is a limit of one card per person.
The library system is also offering a month of Hello Kitty and Friends-themed activities.
“From hands-on activities inspired by your favorite characters to one-of-a-kind creations you can keep or share with a friend, every program is a chance to connect, have fun, and make lasting memories together,” the library’s website states.
A list of upcoming events, including Friday’s Hello Kitty and Friends Scavenger Hunt at the Angelo M. Iacoboni Library in Lakewood, is available on the library’s website.
