BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified a man who died after being struck by a train in April as 30-year-old James William Almond Jr. of Bakersfield.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Saturday, April 20, 2026, just before 9 p.m., officers were called to the area of Q and James streets on the report of a pedestrian suffering severe injuries after being hit by a train.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced the pedestrian, later identified as Almond Jr., dead at the scene.
