The 20th Annual Sean Eduardo Sanchez (SES) Tennis Center Fundraising Pro-Am Tennis Tournament will take place on Sunday, Oct. 11, at Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa in Rancho Santa Fe.
Celebrating two decades of tennis, community and giving back, the annual event brings together amateur players, local tennis professionals, sponsors and spectators to raise funds benefiting the SES Tennis Center in Tecate, Mexico, as well as Empty Cradle in San Diego, according to a news release.
Player and professional registration begins at 12 p.m., with warm-up beginning at 12:30 p.m. In addition to tournament play, guests can enjoy a mini silent auction, followed by a family-friendly barbecue dinner and trophy presentation.
Those who are not competing are encouraged to attend as spectators and take part in the celebration. Spectator tickets are $150 per person, with special pricing available for children under 18. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for individuals and businesses interested in supporting the tournament and the SES Tennis Center’s continued growth, the news release stated.
Proceeds from the 20th Annual Pro-Am will help fund several important improvements at the SES Tennis Center, which may include the addition of new pickleball courts subject to funding and further planning, new flowerbeds and landscaping, and the conversion of the Center’s clay tennis courts to hard surface courts.
Support from last year’s tournament has already made a meaningful impact. Funds raised through the 19th Annual Pro-Am helped provide new bathrooms, spectator stands and safety railings, making the facility safer and more welcoming for players, families and visitors.
The SES Tennis Center is supported by a California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and provides children with access to tennis instruction, equipment and opportunities to participate in tournaments on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. The Center currently serves more than 150 children.
The SES Tennis Center was founded by Eduardo and Amelia Sanchez, who fulfilled their longtime dream of creating a tennis facility in Tecate that would serve the community regardless of income. The Center was dedicated on June 4, 2004, in loving memory of their infant son, Sean Eduardo.
The annual fundraiser also benefits Empty Cradle, a San Diego nonprofit organization that supports parents and families coping with the loss of an infant before, during or after birth.
