The seasons are changing, and so are the trends. Check out these eight trends to spice up your nails this fall
The seasons are changing, and so are the trends. We’ve seen nail trends change drastically in the past few years, jumping from maximalist nail art to minimalist shades of bubble bath and funny bunny. This year is leaning more clean girl than maximalist, with micro details and earth tones leading the trends. Some people are even opting for a plain base coat layer to give their nails a well deserved break. Whatever your preference, this list has something for everyone to enjoy. Here are eight new trends to try out in L.A. this fall season.
Earth Tones
This trend circles back in the fall year after year. Contrary to popular belief, earth tones aren’t just the brown and beige tones. Add a little color with a sky blue, a forest green or maybe an orangy red to match the changing leaves on the trees.
Embrace Natural
Don’t have the time or patience to keep up with a set? No worries! Natural nails are making a comeback. With the weather turning, your skin and nails might start to become more dry or brittle, making the fall the perfect time to take a break from constant manicured nails. Swipe on a layer of your favorite base coat and grab some cuticle oil to keep your nails healthy during the colder seasons.
Micro French
A twist on a classic, the micro french manicure is like the sophisticated older sister of your typical french tip. Not ready to commit to a full set of a new color? Take it for a test run with this style. Take your favorite jelly tone and add a little swipe of color across the top to achieve this fresh look.
Polka Dots

This spring trend, turned summer trend is now still here in the fall. Refresh this look with some moody colors, like a deep forest green on a pearly pink base. Or get creative with multiple colors for your polka dots and add some sparkle. The possibilities are endless.
Subtle Chrome
An easy way to spice up your favorite color is swiping on a layer of chrome powder to add a little shine. Worn over a dark espresso brown or a rich plum, they add a little dimension without losing the season’s moodiness.
Tiny Details
Similar to the micro french, this season nail art enthusiasts are all about the little details. A little goes a long way with this trend. Try a little heart in the center of your nail to jazz up an otherwise plain set of nails. Doing your nails at home? Nail stickers are the perfect way to achieve this look in half the time.
Tortoise Shell
Tortoise shell nails are taking those popular earth tones and combining them to form this elegant art. You don’t have to use the traditional browns and blacks to achieve this look. Try mixing in a dark green or soft pink to put your own twist on this trend.
Vampy Reds
Halloween always comes knocking when the weather starts to turn, and vampy reds are this season’s answer. Anything from bright cherry shades to reds that almost appear black in some light could be considered a vampire red. With so many to choose from, there’s a shade of red for everyone to enjoy.
