ADRIAN, Mich. – Adrian College’s NCSA D1 team got the season underway today with a doubleheader against Oakland Community College. The Bulldogs dropped game one 5-0 and game two 16-8.
Game 1
Oakland CC got on the board in the top of the first with an RBI single. Elizabeth Grady got the start in the circle for Adrian, pitching two innings and giving up just the lone run. In the top of the fourth, the Owls extended their lead with a three-run inning. Adrian’s offense struggled to get going and fell 5-0.
Game 2
After both teams combined for five runs in game one, they combined for 24 runs in game two.
Again, Oakland CC got on the board first with a three-run first inning. The Owls added one in the second and one in the third, giving themselves a 5-0 lead. Adrian answered right back with a four-run third inning, capped off by a Mattea Bingaman RBI to bring the Bulldogs within one.
The fourth and fifth innings saw both teams exchange runs, and after five innings of play it was 11-8 in favor of Oakland CC. In the top of the sixth, the Owls tacked on five more runs. Adrian wasn’t able to pull off the comeback, and it fell 16-8.

The team’s next games will be Sunday at home against Jackson College. The first game will start at 12 PM, followed by game two at 2 PM.
