“You’ve got a dead 3-year-old,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said during a news conference. “There wasn’t proper, in my belief, responsible behavior occurring with that weapon if some of these kids could get to it.”
Investigators are still working to determine how the boy was shot. They did recover a Taurus handgun from the home, adding they believe it belongs to the boy’s father, who was not at the home when the shooting occurred.
