RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The USD Women’s and Men’s Cross Country competed at the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday morning, testing themselves early in the season at the UCR Agg Course.
The San Diego women competed in the first race of the day being the 6k, as they finished 28th with 744 points, while the men finished 25th with 710 points in the 8k.
Leading the charge for the Toreros was senior Camryn Kozak, who clocked a 21:55.4 to place 174th overall, Close behind was freshman Evelyn Cody making her collegiate debut placing 151st with a 21:57.6, followed by senior Rebecca Bronstein at 22:02.1 in 159th place.
Freshman Madison Li’s 22:15.1 pace earned her 175th, and Abigail Huth followed with a 22:39.5 time to finish in 207th place.
The roster showed consistency, as four Toreros simultaneously finished later in the race, as senior Allison Kirby’s 23:05.0 time earned a 236th place finish that was followed by underclass teammates freshman Rachel Biondo’s 23:05.5 (237th), sophomore Talya Sepand’s 23:05.9 (238th), and freshman Brooke Phelan’s 23:12.3 (239th).
On the men’s side, freshman Parker McAdam led the Toreros with a 24:57.2, earning 84th place in the 8k race.
San Diego’s next scorer came from freshman Jack Loomis who finished in 192nd place with a time of 26:03.3, followed closely by fellow underclassmen freshman Samuel Keith’s 26:18.1 (197th), sophomore Maxwell Gibbons’ 26:19.0 (199th), and freshmen Troy Turner’s 26:23.0 (200th) and Joseph Bronzini’s 26:27.8 (202nd).

The Toreros will be back in action in two weeks on Saturday, Oct. 3, when they travel to Louisville, Kentucky to race in the Louisville XC classic at Tom Sawyer Park.
