OBITUARY
Tony Garcia Sanchez passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on December 5, 1931, Tony was one of 12 children born to Faustino and Refugia Sanchez. He was the beloved brother of Carmen Ruiz, Mary Samano, Henry Sanchez, Cruz Palmerin, Emma Esqueda, Lupe Jimenez, David Sanchez, Jess Sanchez, Dolores Zamora, Anita Contreras, and Jennie Zamora. His surviving sisters, Dolores, Anita, and Jennie, carry forward the memories of a large and deeply connected family.
Tony was the devoted husband of Mary Louise Sanchez, father of six children: Cynthia, Barbara, Rebecca, Dorothy, David, and Mario. He was a beloved grandfather to 30 grandchildren, a cherished great-grandfather to 70, a proud great-great-grandfather to 13, and the guiding leader of a family whose generations are a testament to the life and legacy he built. More than the numbers, Tony’s greatest legacy was the family he nurtured and the love he shared across generations.
Services: Family and friends are invited to honor Tony’s life on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Chapel of the Oaks, 300 Curtner Avenue, San Jose, California. Visitation: 4:00-6:00 p.m. Rosary and Vigil: 6:00-8:00 p.m.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in San Jose. Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
