The Long Beach community came together on Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Recreation Park Bandshell for live entertainment and to support good causes as well.
More than 100 nonprofits participating in this year’s Long Beach Gives campaign came together on Sunday for the annual Long Beach Gives Live! Expo & Festival, hosted by Live at The Shell.
The goal of the expo and festival is to give people an opportunity to stroll through various nonprofit booths to learn about what they are doing to better the Long Beach community and encourage donations during the weeklong early giving period of Long Beach Gives – a citywide, online fundraising campaign aimed at supporting the city’s local organizations.
Early giving for Long Beach Gives got underway on Thursday, Sept. 17. Nearly 300 nonprofits, dedicated to causes ranging from mental health to supporting the arts, signed on to the online fundraising campaign this year.
Last year’s Long Beach Gives raised more than $2.3 million for 292 nonprofits. Since the campaign’s inception in 2019, it has raised more than $13 million for Long Beach organizations.
On Sunday, music and theater nonprofits put on a show for attendees – from young singers to jazz solos.
Some of the organizations with booths included the Aquarium of the Pacific, Common Ground Grief, Healing to You, CatPAWS, Long Beach Bar Foundation, Long Beach Symphony, Shared Science, SK8 Haven, and more.
The campaign’s official day of giving is Thursday, Sept. 24. For more information, visit longbeachgives.org.
