UC Berkeley Engineering has risen to the No. 2 engineering program in U.S. News & World Report’s newly published undergraduate rankings, up from No. 3 last year. The college is tied with Georgia Tech and Stanford University for the second spot and remains the top public program in the nation, alongside Georgia Tech.
Seven of the college’s undergraduate programs ranked in the top 5. Civil engineering, electrical engineering and environmental engineering came in at No. 2, while computer engineering ranked No. 3. In addition, computer science, industrial engineering and materials engineering all ranked No. 4.
U.S. News includes rankings for both computer engineering and computer science. Both are housed in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, which is shared with the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society. U.S. News also includes several subcategories within computer science, with artificial intelligence ranking No. 4 and software engineering at No. 3.
