The San Jose Sharks host the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday in the first of their two preseason matches.
The Vegas Golden Knights look to stay undefeated in the preseason as they travel to take on the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night. The Golden Knights will play their first preseason game at home on Thursday against the Utah Mammoth. They will finish out the preseason with a rematch at home against San Jose. Vegas is coming off a 4-2 win on Saturday against another California team, beating the Los Angeles Kings. The Golden Knights scored two goals late in the first period, less than one minute apart. LA scored one early in the second, and then tied the game more than halfway through the third.
But Jackson Hallum got Vegas back on the board with the go-ahead goal. Hallum iced it with his second goal in less than four minutes, an empty-netter. The left winger was the first star of the game with two goals,and Kmec had a goal and an assist to take the second star. Neither team had many chances and the Golden Knights were especially efficient with just 16 shots on the night. They will likely need to step it up on offense to stay undefeated this preseason.

The Sharks are trying to bounce back after a sluggish preseason start, losing to the Anaheim Ducks 6-2 on Sunday. Things started off well when Eric Pohlkamp scored San Jose’s first goal of the season just 1:37 into regulation, assisted by Ethan Cardwell. But Anaheim scored just under three minutes later and then again three minutes later in the first period. The Sharks tied it up midway through the second period on a goal by Jimmy Huntington, assisted by Brett Leason.
Unfortunately for San Jose, that was the last time it scored. Beckett Sennecke went on a run for the Ducks, scoring three straight goals to seal the win. Anaheim outshot the Sharks 32-23, and things aren’t expected to get much easier tonight against Vegas. At least San Jose is returning home on Tuesday.
