The Air Force volleyball team opens Mountain West play this week, when it hosts San Jose State in a pair of conference contests. The Falcons, who finished the non-conference season with a 4-7 record, will host the Spartans on Thursday, Sept. 22, and Saturday, Sept. 24, at Cadet East Gym.
NEW LOOK MOUNTAIN WEST
Under the new Mountain West scheduling format, teams will face each other twice in the same location each week, with the only exception coming from mid-season home-and-home meetings with the closest opponent.
MATCH INFORMATION
The Falcons’ two matches against the Spartans will take place inside Cadet East Gym at 6:00 p.m. (MT) on Thursday, and 1:00 p.m. (MT) on Saturday. Tickets can be purchased at AFTickets.com and spectators must request base access prior to arriving at the Academy (information below) and adhere to the athletic department’s Clear Bag Policy. Live stats will be available via StatBroadcast, while the matches will be broadcast live on the MW+, with Jason Carter and Scott Nelson on the call.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
San Jose State finished the non-conference season with a 5-6 record, after falling to Sacramento State (1-3) and California (1-3) at the Battle of NorCal. Morgan Graves leads the Spartans with a 2.43 per set average, while Orian Drore (2.65 dps) and Aniya Hall (0.84 bps) lead San Jose State defensively.

San Jose State holds a 19-8 advantage in the all-time series with Air Force, including a 16-8 margin as Mountain West opponents. The Falcons have won three of the last four meetings with the Spartans at the Academy.
AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Alysa Walker and Ella Vogel lead the Mountain West in their respective stat categories at the conclusion of non-conference action, while the Falcons hold the conference’s top-ranked average in digs (16.51). Individually, Walker is ranked first in kills (4.40) and points (4.85), while Vogel’s 4.33 digs per set is also ranked No. 1 in the league. In addition, Zoe Kirby and Grace Fiaseu are ranked third (1.05) and fourth (1.00), respectively, in blocking.
