A widespread technological failure has paralyzed check-in and ticketing systems at San Diego International Airport (SAN), triggering massive crowds and severe delays for early morning travelers.

According to reporting partner 10 News the IT outage, which began around 5:30 a.m., is actively impacting operations across both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

With primary airline computer networks offline, airport officials confirmed that carriers have been forced to pivot to emergency backup procedures. Gate agents and airline representatives are currently processing thousands of passengers manually using iPads and physical paper tickets.

Witnesses and travelers at the scene report overwhelming crowds, with check-in lines stretching deep into the concourses and out the terminal doors. Stay with San Diego’s Morning News for updates.
