Lincoln Park camp removed

Lincoln Heights—A homeless encampment that sat on the edge of Lincoln Park for years was finally removed last month, according to Richard Zaldivar with the Wall Las Memorias Project, a group that advocates for the park. The encampment had been on the border of lands belonging to the park and the University of Southern California—evading enforcement by slipping between the two properties, Zaldivar said. He added that a resident of the encampment was accused this year of pulling a BB gun on a park employee. By the time the encampment was removed on Aug. 20, however, only two people were living there. Both have moved back with their families, Zaldivar said.
