A violent attack at a Sacramento apartment complex ended with a police standoff after officers say a woman armed with a knife attacked several people before barricading herself inside an apartment.
Residents at the complex in the 20 block of Howe Avenue said a man was slashed in the neck and a 15-year-old girl and her mother were also assaulted.
A resident captured video of the scene as police responded to the apartment complex.
“It was pretty scary because this girl was slashing. She was out slashing people, you know, she didn’t care. She was out for everybody, so you know, there’s a lot of people in danger,” resident Emery Adcock said.
Sacramento Police later identified the woman as 28-year-old Aeiryn Warren.
Angelique Vaillalva, who lives at the complex, said she was sitting outside around 6:30 p.m. when Warren first came outside.
“This girl from 307 comes down and goes to staff and starts yelling at staff and threatening staff, that I guess somebody was in her room. But nobody was in her room,” Vaillalva said.
Residents said Warren was trying to start multiple fights with people on a patio. She eventually went back inside her apartment and returned with a knife, according to Vaillalva.
“She came downstairs with a knife, and she went towards the guy that she was fighting with, the one that was protecting the women, and started chasing him with a knife. She cut him from right here to right here. He has like a mark right here,” Vaillalva said.
The man had a visible wound on his neck. He told ABC10 he is recovering from the attack and did not want to speak on camera.
Police said Warren also punched a 15-year-old girl and injured her mother. Both were taken to the hospital.
“The daughter got into it and was trying to get her off her mom, and then she punched the daughter, and then she gouged the lady’s eye, and it started bleeding really bad,” Vaillalva said.
Vaillalva said people were screaming as they called 911.
When police arrived, Warren barricaded herself inside the unit. SWAT officers and crisis negotiators responded, and police took her into custody around 10:50 p.m.
Warren was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, battery and child endangerment.
“She’s known to be violent. She has, she’s known to be violent,” Adcock said.
Vaillalva said Warren had been causing trouble at the complex for some time.
“This girl has been causing trouble here for a while already, and thank God that she’s not allowed to come back because she don’t need to come back,” Vaillalva said.
According to jail records, Warren is ineligible for bail.
No court dates are currently scheduled, according to jail records.
