A man who was fatally shot during an argument outside a Fresno liquor store Thursday has been identified as 25-year-old Muhammad Muhtaraam-Conley.

The shooting happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. at the Bulldog Liquor store in the 400 block of East Shaw Avenue after officers received a ShotSpotter alert reporting one round fired.

When officers arrived, they found Muhtaraam-Conley suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders performed life-saving measures before he was taken to the hospital, police said.

Muhtaraam-Conley was initially listed in critical condition before being pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said the shooting stemmed from an argument but did not provide a description of the suspect.

Detectives are investigating and searching the area for surveillance footage. They are also asking anyone who might have witnessed the shooting or has information about it to come forward.
