A road connecting visitors to a popular Yosemite National Park vista has closed due to wildfire smoke.

Glacier Point Road closed to traffic at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, as a result of smoke from the Dome Fire, park officials announced.

“This public safety closure is a result of reduced visibility along the road due to smoke and to safely allow firefighting operations,” Yosemite National Park officials said

The 16-mile roadway connects Wawona Road, a continuation of Highway 41 from Fresno, to Glacier Point.

“Smoky conditions are possible, with unhealthy air quality in some places at some times,” Yosemite National Park officials said.
