A man was shot early Saturday morning in Fresno’s Tower District.
According to Fresno Police Lt. James Rossetti, officers were already in the area when they heard what sounded like a gunshot in the 700 block of E. Olive Avenue.
Officers looked toward Irene’s Cafe and located a shooting victim. They provided aid and saw a person running west from the restaurant, but officers were unable to locate the alleged shooter.
Rossetti said the victim was shot an unknown number of times. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died, police said in an update.
Detectives are investigating what led up to the shooting.
Anyone with information is asked to call Fresno police at 559-621-7000.
