The preseason is nearly over, and the San Jose Sharks will dress a near-full NHL lineup against the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday.

While the Sharks still have some jobs to win on the roster, Saturday’s forward lineup might be exactly what we see on Oct. 1. For defense, prospects Eric Pohlkamp and Luca Cagnoni won’t play, but don’t read too much into that. Players like Nolan Allan and Sam Dickinson have somewhat surprisingly gotten into a bit of a competition.

“Yeah, we’ll see. Again, it’s a few days away,” San Jose Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky said about potentially scratching Dickinson for Allan on opening night.

The head coach is right; NHL teams must submit rosters by 5 p.m. ET on Monday. Saturday’s game could be a last chance for some players, especially Allan and Dickinson.

For the rest of the lineup, it is time to fire live bullets. Per Warsofsky, the Sharks will face a similarly talented lineup.

“We’re really focused on us, to be honest with you, for tonight and how we need to play,” Warsofsky said. “We’re playing an NHL lineup on the other side, so that’s a big thing. [That will be] nice for our group to have that dress rehearsal. The regular season means a lot more, obviously, but the more so, the way we look at it as his two NHL lineups going at it.”

Macklin Celebrini will play tonight with his usual linemates, but he will debut the ‘C’ on his San Jose Sharks jersey.
