Jack E. Morgan
OBITUARY
Jack Morgan, 78, passed away unexpectedly due to complications of heart disease on August 20, 2026, at his home in Carlsbad, California.
Jack was born at Mercy Hospital in San Diego and raised in Carlsbad, where his family owned and operated a well-known restaurant, The Twin Inns, for 64 years. His fondest childhood memories were of growing up in the historic Victorian building that housed the restaurant and, as he grew older, of taking on various roles within the family business, from washing dishes to greeting guests. After graduating from Carlsbad High School, Jack obtained an A.A. degree in Business from Mira Costa College; he then transferred to San Diego State University for a short time before enlisting in the Army National Guard. Following his honorable discharge in 1977, Jack worked at several local businesses before finding his true calling as a salesman in the wholesale liquor and wine industry. It was a profession that suited his open, gregarious personality perfectly, and he worked diligently at it for over 35 years until his retirement in 2014. He possessed a natural ability to connect with his customers, many of whom became lifelong friends, and he took pride in providing them with the very best service possible.
From a young age, Jack loved the outdoors, particularly camping and fishing with family and friends, later adding skiing in areas like Mammoth and Park City, Utah. He instilled in his two sons a love of mountains and rivers by focusing many family vacations on camping trips to the Sierras or driving trips throughout the western United States. He particularly loved visiting National Parks, such as Yellowstone, Yosemite, and the Grand Canyon, often marveling at the peace and natural beauty to be found in those locations.
Throughout their 43 years of married life, Jack and his wife built many lasting friendships through various social activities and participation in several local organizations, as well as by nurturing ties with people who had been in their lives since childhood. Undoubtedly, these friends will remember Jack for his engaging grin, his frequent chuckles, and his love of casual dress–particularly shorts and Hawaiian shirts!
Jack leaves behind his beloved wife, Pam, and his two sons, Pat and Chris, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his brother, Mike, and sister-in-law, Sharon, of Petaluma, California; his aunt, Jackie Kentner Miller of Honolulu, Hawaii; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will miss him dearly. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Morgan and Dorothy Kentner Lee, and his sister, Toni Bastien.
A private celebration of Jack’s life will be held later this year.
