Fresno police identified the man killed early Saturday as 28-year-old Tyrone Miles.

Officers responded to the Tower District after hearing a single gunshot nearby, followed by a one-round ShotSpotter alert near Olive and Linden avenues, police said.

Officers ran to the area and found Miles in the roadway on Olive Avenue. He had been shot once.

First responders provided life-saving measures before Miles was taken to a hospital, where he died several hours later.

Homicide detectives determined that a verbal dispute had occurred near the intersection of Olive and Linden avenues before Miles was shot.

Detectives are searching the area for video surveillance footage and are asking witnesses who may have information about the incident to come forward.

Police are also seeking cellphone video recorded around the time of the shooting.

Police haven’t identified the suspect.

The homicide is the 22nd in Fresno in 2026.

Police said they will “continue to have a large presence of Fresno PD officers in the Tower District during evening hours as we have done for several weekends throughout the year to prevent any further violence, which includes the Central District officers that patrol the Tower District throughout their daily shifts on a regular basis.”

Anyone with information about the shooting can contact Fresno Police Department Homicide Detective A. Lopez at 559-621-2407 or Detective A. Barragan at 559-621-2449.
