The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards has rolled out the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles Sunday night as the music industry’s top stars gather for this year’s ceremony.

Hosted by rapper Snoop Dogg, the festivities kick off at 7:30 p.m., broadcasting live on CBS and simulcasting on MTV, as well as streaming on Paramount+.

A number of big stars are set to perform at the 2026 VMAs, including the legendary Madonna, who is set to open the show. It will be Madonna’s first live performance at the VMAs in 23 years since her infamous 2003 showstopper, where she kissed both Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera on stage. Madonna, who has won 19 “Moon Person” awards over the years, leads the 2026 class of nominees, earning nods in 11 categories this year.

The 2026 show will also feature tribute performances, with country star Kacey Musgraves set to perform at the VMAs for the first time in five years, honoring the late Dolly Parton. Meanwhile, Raye, Sombr, and Teddy Swims will perform together as part of a tribute to George Michael.

Additional stars set to perform include GENER8ION, Yung Lean, LISA, Shaboozey, Gunna, and Sienna Spiro.

Taylor Swift, who’s nominated in nine categories this year, is set to receive the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors at Sunday’s ceremony. She’ll also take over the show with the world premiere of the music video for her new song “Patient Zero,” from “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore.” According to a press release, the video is directed by Swift and stars Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson.

The awards will honor Nirvana as well on Sunday night, with the band earning this year’s Video Vanguard honor.
