A long-time law enforcement professional in Oakland County recently graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia following 10 weeks of intensive training, officials said.

Lt. Eric Tremonti, a 22-year-veteran of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, is a member of the academy’s 299th session, described as “one of the nation’s premier law enforcement leadership and professional development programs.” Tremonti, one of less than 1% of law enforcement officers nationwide who’ve had the opportunity to attend the program, graduated on Sept. 17 along with 264 others.

“The FBI National Academy brings together some of the most accomplished law enforcement professionals from across the country and around the world, and Eric’s selection and successful completion of the program speaks to the caliber of leader he is,” Sheriff Mike Bouchard stated in a news release. “Throughout his 22 years with our office, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service, professional excellence and leadership. We are proud of his accomplishment and look forward to the experience, knowledge and relationships he brings back to our organization and the communities we serve.”

The FBI National Academy is internationally recognized for academic excellence, officials said, and provides advanced instruction in leadership, communication, behavioral science, intelligence, law, forensic science and physical fitness. Participants are selected based on demonstrated leadership within their agencies and, on average, have 21 years of law enforcement experience.

The 299th graduating class included representatives from 44 states and the District of Columbia, as well as law enforcement professionals from 28 countries, five military organizations and four federal civilian organizations.

For the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, Tremonti is assigned to the Investigative and Forensic Services Division, helping to oversee specialized investigative and forensic operations supporting criminal investigations throughout the county.
