Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center will offer $50 mammograms throughout October at four locations in the Pomona Valley, hospital officials announced.
The 3D mammograms will be available without a physician’s order or proof of insurance as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Women are eligible for the $50 screenings if they are over age 40, have not received a mammogram within the past year, do not have breast implants, have not had breast cancer within the past five years and are not currently experiencing breast problems, according to the hospital.
Screenings will be offered at the following locations:
Breast Health Center at the Robert & Beverly Lewis Family Cancer Care Center, 1910 Royalty Drive in Pomona;
Pomona Valley Imaging Center, 2140 Grand Ave., Suite 115, in Chino Hills;
Pomona Valley Health Center, 1601 Monte Vista Ave., Suite 107, in Claremont;
Pomona Valley Health Center, 2333 Foothill Blvd., Suite D, in La Verne.
About one in four women ages 50 to 74 had not received a mammogram within the previous two years as of 2022, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The American Cancer Society says the five-year relative survival rate for breast cancer diagnosed at the localized stage is more than 99%.
