Firefighters stopped a grass fire near Oakland on Sunday afternoon after a smoke column was spotted by wildfire camera detection operators.

The Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA) said crews responded Sunday, Sept. 27, at about 1:19 p.m. to the report near the 1300 block of Hogan Road in Oakland. Firefighters arrived to find a 3-acre grass fire moving uphill.

DFPA used three engines to quickly stop the forward spread. The fire ultimately burned seven acres, according to the agency.

Mop-up operations have been completed and the fire is now in patrol status. No homes or structures were threatened.

DFPA said the fire was determined to be human-caused and remains under investigation.
