Sacramento Greek Festival returns on Oct. 2-4

Mike CherrySACRAMENTO, Calif. —

The Sacramento Greek Festival returns on Friday, Oct. 2, bringing three days of Greek food, music, dancing and culture to the community.

The festival opens at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, and continues through 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4.

Organizers say this year’s festival will feature several new behind-the-scenes stories highlighting the people and traditions that make the annual event possible.

Among them is a look at the history of Sacramento’s Greek community and the founding of the festival. Another story explores the hundreds of volunteers and the time and effort required each year to organize the event. A third takes visitors behind the scenes of the festival’s Greek pastry operation, one of its most popular attractions.

Festival organizers are also offering cooking demonstrations, Greek dance lessons and pastry-making demonstrations as part of this year’s celebration.

The Sacramento Greek Festival has become a longtime community tradition, drawing visitors each year for authentic Greek cuisine, entertainment and cultural experiences.

The festival takes place at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church near McKinley Park, located at 616 Alhambra Boulevard. The festival entrance is on F Street.

Admission is $3 on Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for people ages 13 and older. Admission during other times is $5. Kids 12 and under are free.

Bicyclists are also free all weekend. That entrance is on 30th Street.
