Man accused in deadly Sacramento trampoline park shooting appears in court
A 36-year-old man accused of killing a mother and critically injuring another woman outside a Sacramento trampoline park appeared before a judge for the first time Tuesday.
Edward Tucker appeared in court wearing an orange jail jumpsuit. The hearing lasted less than three minutes.
Prosecutors have charged Tucker with four felony counts, including murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
The charges stem from a shooting Saturday afternoon at the Urban Air trampoline park off Arden Way in Sacramento’s Arden Arcade area. Samantha Cromwell, 29, died at the scene.
Cromwell’s family said she was at the park to celebrate her son’s eighth birthday.
A second woman, identified by her family as Faith, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Loved ones of both victims attended Tucker’s court appearance and spoke afterward about their determination to follow the case.
“He didn’t break us,” said Tamica Atterberry, Faith’s mother. “We’re strong. We’re together. We’ve got this. We’re going to be here every court date. Every single time you’re here, we will be here, too.”
Pamela Ward, Cromwell’s grandmother, said the family continues to experience “a lot of pain.”
“We want justice, and I do believe we will get it,” Ward said. She also thanked the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, victim advocates and others who attended the hearing to support the case.
Tucker’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 13. He remains in custody without bail.
