The Olympic spirit is coming to communities across the country.
Organizers of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games announced the Olympic Torch Relay will travel through all 50 states before reaching Los Angeles for the Summer Games.
The relay will begin in Atlanta, the host city of the 1996 Summer Olympics and the last U.S. city to host the Summer Games.
The Olympic flame will first be lit in Olympia, Greece, before beginning its journey across the United States in spring 2028.
For Texans, that means the Lone Star State will be part of the historic 50-state journey, although specific stops, including whether the torch will come through Houston, have not yet been announced.
LA28 says the full route will be announced in 2027.
Organizers say the relay is expected to pass through major landmarks and cultural and sporting events, with festival celebrations planned in select cities along the way.
The journey will culminate in Los Angeles, where the flame will be used during the Opening Ceremony of the 2028 Olympic Games.
The Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays will also involve communities across the country, with the Paralympic relay taking place after the Olympic Games.
More information about torchbearer nominations and additional relay details is expected in the coming months.
The LA28 Olympic Games will take place in Los Angeles in 2028.
