(KRON) — The Oakland Police Department said it recently arrested an alleged Bay Area-based ghost gun trafficker after a community member alerted police on their drug hotline.
On Sept. 22, OPD said officers from its Intelligence Unit were assisted by OPD’s Crime Reduction Team (CRT) West in detaining the suspect during a vehicle stop in the 500 block of 23rd Avenue.
According to police, “A loaded firearm and narcotics packaged for street distribution were recovered from the vehicle. A follow-up search warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence, resulting in the seizure of equipment used to manufacture privately made firearms, referred to as ‘ghost guns.'”

OPD said it also recovered “firearm and ghost gun parts, multiple handguns, assault rifles, ammunition, narcotics, and equipment for producing counterfeit credit cards and checks, such as embossers and blank cards.”
The unidentified suspect faces several charges while the case has been handed over to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.
