CalOptima Health, the single largest health insurer in Orange County, has approved $8 million in grants to nine organizations with the intent to strengthen housing and homelessness services in OC.

The grants are part of CalOptima’s five-year commitment to address housing insecurity, funded by California’s Housing and Homelessness Incentive Program and CalOptima’s financial reserves.

The largest recipient of $3 million is nonprofit housing developer National CORE, which will use the funding to build 50 units of family housing in Lake Forest.

The other recipients receiving grants between $100,000 to $2.4 million include: Olive Crest, American Family Housing, the City of Santa Ana, Action Alliance Foundation, Hub for Integration, Reentry & Employment, Korean Community Services of Orange County, My Safe Harbor Inc. and The Cambodian Family.
