The Coronado community is gearing up for the annual fall tradition that is CHS Homecoming. To kick off the weekend, the Homecoming Parade (from Adella to 7th Street) will be held on Friday, October 2 at 4 p.m. The Homecoming Football game will begin at 7 p.m. on October 2 at Coronado High School, with the Homecoming King & Queen being crowned at halftime. And, finally, the Homecoming dance will be held on Saturday, October 3. from 7-10 p.m. at Parq Nightclub in downtown San Diego.

Meet your 2026 CHS Homecoming Court …

Melo Avetyan: Melo is a varsity captain for both the football and rugby teams at Coronado High School. He is also a proud player of the varsity lacrosse team. When he is not training or playing on the field, you will find him in tune with his Christian faith helping with YoungLife clubs and events. He has the faith, personality, confidence, and commitment, now all he needs is your vote to be homecoming king.

Reed Karosich: Reed is a military child, born in San Diego but spending his life moving between the US and Europe. Despite that challenge, he persevered and rose to become the Commanding Officer of Coronado High School Navy Junior ROTC. He has also earned his place as captain of 2 of Coronado High School’s Robotics teams and as the head of mechanical engineering at Coronado Robotics Academy. He plays Baritone Saxophone for the Islander Band and Coronado School of the Arts, and he swims for Coronado High School Swim & Dive. He is accompanied by his mother Katie Karosich and his father Captain Brian Karosich, US Navy.

Luke Meehan: Luke plans to get a bachelors in fine arts or a bachelor’s of music in college to hopefully go on and pursue musical theatre as a career. Luke is involved in CoSA’s Musical Theatre & Drama conservatory as well as many different clubs at CHS. In his free time, he likes hanging out with his friends such as Emily, Charlie, Addy, Chloe and Caroline, listening to music and watching movies. He is so grateful for this opportunity to be on this year’s Homecoming Court. Go Islanders.

Dante Salata: Dante is honored and excited to join his classmates on the Homecoming Court. Dante grew up in a Navy family and returned to Coronado in eighth grade after previously living here from kindergarten through second grade. The youngest of four brothers, he plays football and lacrosse and has served in ASB for four years, including three years as Class Vice President and currently as ASB Vice President. He also serves as president of the intern program at F.O.C.U.S., a nonprofit supporting San Diego youth. In his free time, Dante enjoys bodysurfing and spending time with his friends. After high school, he hopes to attend college, commission as a military officer, and become a pilot.

Kesler Tillner: Kesler is honored to be part of this year’s homecoming court. He was born in Wisconsin and has lived in Coronado since he was one. Kesler is currently a three-sport varsity athlete, participating in basketball and serving as captain of both the beach volleyball and indoor volleyball teams. He is the Vice President of the Emerald Keepers Club and Co-President of the Business, Pickleball, and Finance Club. After graduation, he plans to attend a four-year university to study math and/or engineering and pursue a career in construction engineering and management.

Jarett Waterlander: Jarett is a born-and-raised California native and spends his time as a varsity water polo player, swimmer, and has been a beach lifeguard for two years. He also is your senior class vice president and runs Senior Assassins. In his free-time he likes to surf and spend time outdoors. After graduating, Jarett plans to go down the medical route at a 4-year university. He’d like to give a final shoutout to his grandparents, Ryan Mondzelewski, Connor Bear, and Calvin Park.

Milly Cocanig: Milly is in her fourth year of CoSA Dance, she is a two year captain of the Coronado High school Dance Team, and she participates in competition dance outside of school. Milly plans to attend a four year college next fall, and is excited to be alongside her friend Mia on court.

Madie Collins: Madie is a middle sister of three, Katie who’s a sophomore at UCCS and Lily who is a CHS freshman. Madie is committed to attending the University of California, Berkeley where she plans to major in business and go on to play division one lacrosse. At school, Madie is the ASB Commissioner of Spirit, the NHS Vice President, and a consistent ISF Volunteer. Madie’s favorite high school memories include playing varsity lacrosse and soccer with both of her sisters and making memories with her teammates. Her biggest piece of advice is that the amount of good things in your life depends on your ability to notice them, so always be grateful. Finally, she wants to give a shoutout to all her day ones who’ve helped shape her into the person she is today and support her unconditionally.

Scout Cross: Scout Executive Officer of Islander Company and President of the Official Brynn Belong Fanclub. When she’s not planning her homecoming queen campaign, you can find her playing trombone with the high school band, marching with NJROTC, event planning, and rock climbing. In her free time, she loves playing with her little brother, baking cookies, and going salsa dancing.

Maesan Everitt: Maesan is a two-sport varsity athlete in lacrosse and cross country and a former captain of the cross country team. After tearing her ACL, Maesan has spent her senior year supporting her teammates while working toward recovery. She would also like to express her appreciation for Maty and Mirren, who have always been there for her. Maesan hopes to be a future Florida Gator and is excited for what’s ahead. Go Gators.

Mia Langham: Mia is a Coronado varsity cheerleader and is part of the dance team. Mia plans on studying psychology next year in the fall. She’s excited to be alongside her friend Milly in the court and can’t wait to continue senior year with her friends.

Akenna Thornton: Akenna intends on pursuing a career in Experimental and Research Psychology by majoring in Neurological Development in college as well as later on getting her doctorate. Akenna wants to attend the University of Kansas in the Fall of 2027. Akenna is involved in softball, Safe Harbor, The National Honors Society, and many different clubs at CHS. Akenna loves hanging out with her friends Cailey, Vivian, Nadia, Edie, and Kate, going on car rides and blasting music, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs win. Akenna is very thankful for this opportunity to represent CHS on the 2027 Homecoming Court, and cannot wait for the homecoming dance. And lastly, Go Islanders and Go Chiefs.
