TROY, Mich. – A Troy man was arrested after he was allegedly caught driving nearly three times the speed limit while drunk.
Police said a 31-year-old Troy man was driving a 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E near E Maple and Rochester roads around 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 22, traveling 108 mph in a 40 mph zone.
During a traffic stop, police saw an open beer can in the driver’s-side door. The driver was arrested and taken to jail.
While being interviewed by police, he allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol before driving and agreed to perform sobriety tests.
Police said the Troy man performed poorly while completing the tests. He then agreed to a breath test, which showed a result of .202%
In Michigan, the legal limit is a blood alcohol content of 0.08%.
Police said he was issued a citation for operating with a blood alcohol content of .17% or higher, reckless driving, and open intoxicants in a vehicle.
