Oakland’s Skyline High School is reportedly canceling the remainder of its varsity football season because of a lack of players and safety concerns.

According to the East Bay Times, the school’s principal sent an email indicating the team does not have the required number of players because of injuries, transfers and other issues.

The shortage led to safety concerns and prompted the decision to cancel the remainder of the season.

Skyline had already forfeited its previous three games for the same reasons.

Other Bay Area high schools have made similar moves this fall, including Richmond and Mount Diablo.
