A man was hospitalized early Saturday after his vehicle was struck by a train in Fresno.
Officers responded just after midnight to Maroa Avenue near Clinton Avenue for a report of a train colliding with a vehicle.
According to Fresno police Lt. James Rossetti, the man was driving on the railroad tracks while searching for a family member he believed was in distress. The man spotted the family member but was struck by a southbound train.
The impact knocked the vehicle off the tracks. The man was taken to a hospital, where his condition was unknown.
The investigation remains ongoing.
