OBITUARY
Steve, as he preferred to be called, passed away with Sandy, his wife of 64 years, by his side. His Beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren had been with him. His death was a result of exposure to Agent Orange while in the service.
He and his high school sweetheart, Sandy, married and spent their first years of marriage in San Diego. Both their son, Tony, and daughter, Judy, were born at Balboa Naval Hospital. Steve served aboard the USS Manley DD 940 as an independent duty corpsman. After leaving the Navy Steve worked for the Health Department in Colorado Springs, at the same time completing his undergrad degree. Steve entered UCLA, School of Public Health and earned his master’s degree. Following family tradition Steve chose to return the service.
After 13 years he retired from the Army as a Major, Steve and Sandy returned to San Diego. He took immense pride in his position as Director of Health and Occupational Safety as a founding Staff and Facility member of Cal State San Marcos.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; son, Anthony Steven; daughter, Judith E. Remy (Thomas); grandson, Colin S. Orsak, (wife Laura); great-grandchildren, Connor and Caylyn; granddaughter, Sandra L. Orsak; and predeceased by his parents, Julius S. Orsak, Sr. and Irene Pflought Orsak, and grandson, Shaun Remy.
