The 49ers are 4-0 for the first time since the 2023 NFL season after beating the Denver Broncos in Week 4, and made NFL history in the process.

For the fourth straight game, the 49ers’ offensive line did not give up a sack and San Francisco is the first team in over 20 years to achieve that feat. The line’s performance helped everyone on the offense shine, including running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who praised the unit after the win.

“Yeah, they’re unbelievable,” McCaffrey told NBC Sports Bay Area’s Bonta Hill after the game. “And it’s no shock. You see how they work every day. You see them in practice. You saw it all throughout camp how close and tight knit they are, and for them to continue to play the way that they’re playing against great teams, great rushers, and continuing to up the standard, it’s cool to witness.”

McCaffrey ran the ball 15 times for 52 yards and a touchdown and also caught three passes for 18 yards. He only averaged 3.5 yards per carry, but he continued to show how important he is to the offense.

Samuel also had a productive day, catching five passes for 26 yards and a touchdown. He lined up in the backfield for a couple of plays, carrying the ball three times for 44 yards. Samuel praised the line for giving quarterback Brock Purdy the necessary amount of time to make plays.

“One, shout out to the offensive line,” Samuel told reporters. “The work that they put in week in and week out has continued to show, giving Brock an ample amount of time to go through his progressions and get the ball to the right people.”

The offensive line’s performance through the first four games is similar to the 2005 Indianapolis Colts. That team, led by Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, also did not allow a sack through that season’s first four games and finished the regular season with a 14-2 record.

The 49ers entered the season with major questions surrounding the offensive line. Instead, that unit has been a major bright spot and could help the team re-enter the Super Bowl conversation.

San Francisco faces its toughest test of the 2026 season next week when it travels to Seattle to take on the reigning Super Bowl champion Seahawks. But if the line continues to shine, a 5-0 start could be on the horizon.
