Learn about fire safety, meet firefighters, participate in demonstrations, enjoy firehouse chili and more this Saturday at the Birmingham Fire Department’s annual open house.
The family-friendly, interactive event runs 1 to 4 p.m. at Fire Station 1, located at 572 South Adams Rd.
Visitors can tour the fire station, explore fire department equipment, operate a firehouse and other activities. There will also be a charitable gift basket raffle, with donations benefiting the Great Lakes Burn Camp.

Used household and lithium batteries will be collected by the Southeastern Oakland County Resource Recovery Authority.
“We look forward to opening our doors and inviting the community in to meet our firefighters and learn more about the work we do,” said Fire Chief Matt Bartalino. “Our open house is a great opportunity for residents and families to see our equipment, ask questions, learn about fire safety and get to know the members of their fire department.”
