Custom-made supercars will race in Los Angeles next summer
Former Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz (who moved to Skydance last week) pushed the legendary toy company heavily towards non-traditional outlets for their famous toy brands. The Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling Barbie movie was a huge hit and more of the El Segundo-based company’s brands are heading to the big screen. Films based on View-Master, the Magic 8-Ball and Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots are in development.

In addition to turning toys into movies, the company has been experimenting with all sorts of new outlets for its famous brands. Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterparks are coming to Orlando and other cities; the company has released an Artiste series of Uno card games with artwork from artists including L.A.’s own Shepard Fairey and Gary Baseman; and now real-life Hot Wheels cars are racing in Los Angeles next summer.
After selling out stadiums across Europe, the Hot Wheels Stunt Show comes to L.A. with 15 vehicles on June 26 and 27. The company calls it a “high-octane live arena spectacular” with “life-size, classic Hot Wheels cars and jaw-dropping stunts.”

Replicas of iconic Hot Wheels cars like the 1970s-era Rodger Dodger, and newer cars like Bone Shaker and the GT Scorcher will face off against drifting, ramping, two- and four-wheeling cars, motorbikes, quads and custom stunt vehicles.

“Bringing the Hot Wheels Stunt Show to the United States for the first time is a milestone we’ve been racing toward,” said Ken Hudgens, CEO of Family Entertainment Live “American fans have grown up with Hot Wheels, and there’s nothing quite like seeing those classic cars you know from the orange track come to life at full size, pulling off real stunts just feet in front of you. We can’t wait to bring that thrill to Los Angeles in 2027.”
