Uh oh. Macklin Celebrini is injured and not in the lineup for the San Jose Sharks against the Dallas Stars on Monday.

At 5 p.m. PT, the scheduled start time, the Sharks announced the captain wouldn’t be in the lineup because of a lower-body injury.

It is unclear when or how Celebrini got hurt, but according to the broadcast, the San Jose Sharks center left warmups early. Per SJHN, Celebrini made it to at least line rushes. The injury is a total surprise. Ty Dellandrea enters the lineup in his place for his first appearance of the season.

Celebrini was present for morning skate, and everything seemed fine heading into the Sharks’ third game of the season. Instead, their captain and best player is missing. Celebrini played 22:57 and 21:42 during the first two games of the season.

Don’t expect many updates on Celebrini’s status until head coach Ryan Warsofsky speaks to reporters after the game.
