FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A Mendota family told FOX26 their grandfather was detained by ICE officers in Fresno on Monday.

FOX26 spoke with the man’s granddaughter, who says he’s lived in Mendota for years and owns a mechanic shop there.

She says he was driving to Fresno to buy parts for a car he was working on when he was pulled over and detained at the ICE office in downtown Fresno.

She says the family waited hours for an update and were told he could be transferred to another facility.

FOX26 reached out to the Fresno Police, who said to reach out to another department for information about ICE activity in the Valley.

On Tuesday morning, the family informed FOX26 that they were told everybody picked up on Monday have already been transferred to a facility in McFarland, California in Kern County.

We also spoke to another woman who says her father was also detained by ICE.
