A heat wave didn’t deter guests from stopping by one of La Jolla Shores’ signature events earlier this month.
Walter Munk Day, celebrating the renowned La Jolla oceanographer, took place Oct. 3 and featured informational booths, activities and keynote speakers in Kellogg Park.
But the 2026 event also marked a year of anniversaries, including the 10th anniversary of the Scripps Center for Marine Archaeology’s establishment; the 75th anniversary of the Scripps Scientific Diving Program and Kellogg Park being active; and the 50th anniversary since “Jaws” was released. Thus, special booths also highlighted these programs.
