Power Grid Strained
The unrelenting heat wave is putting severe pressure on the local electrical system. SDG&E is actively asking residents to conserve electricity immediately to help ease demand on the grid.
Power Shutoffs Halted
There is a sigh of relief for customers. According to reporting partner 10 News, SDG&E has confirmed that no Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) are currently planned.
This brings welcome news to areas like Descanso, which lost electricity last week due to preventative wildfire risk measures.
35,000 Customers Cleared
At one point, the utility warned approximately 35,000 customers that their electricity could be cut for safety. However, SDG&E announced that residents are no longer at risk of those planned service interruptions.
