Three people were rescued and another person was hospitalized after an apartment fire in Alameda early Wednesday morning, according to the Alameda Fire Department.
The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. on Central Avenue and started in a first-floor unit, officials said.
When crews arrived, people were trapped on the third floor. Firefighters rescued three people, while another person jumped from the building.
That person was taken to a hospital. Their condition was not immediately known.
At least nine units were affected by the fire, leaving 20 people displaced.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
