Four firefighters and a resident were injured after a fire broke out inside a Silver Lake home following a possible gas leak, the Los Angeles Fire Department said Wednesday.
The blaze was reported on Lakewood Avenue North near Armstrong Avenue at around 10:48 a.m., according the LAFD. A plumbing company drilled into a line, which caused the explosion, a plumber told NBCLA.
Although fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames, the four injured firefighters had to be taken to a hospital. At least one of the injured crew member had possible neck burns, sources told NBCLA.
The bystander was being evaluated for possible injuries at the fire scene, the fire department said.
Arson investigators were expected to determine the cause of the fire.
