Authorities from local and federal law enforcement agencies carried out a drug enforcement operation Thursday morning in Los Angeles’ Skid Row area.
The Los Angeles Police Department said it is assisting the FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration in a joint “narcotics-focused” public safety operation near Fifth and Crocker streets and other locations.
The operation includes arrest warrants for more than two dozen people, 14 of whom were in custody early Thursday morning. The operation is targeting street-level dealers and suppliers, according to authorities and follows a more than three-month investigation.
The main drugs targeted were fentanyl and PCP.
Authorities scheduled at 1 p.m. news conference to discuss the operation. Mayor Karen Bass, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman and LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell will speak at an 11 a.m. news conference.
Federal authorities said the law enforcement activity does not involve immigration enforcement.
