BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A body of a woman was found in a canal near East Panama Lane and Cottonwood Road Friday afternoon following a missing person report.
The Bakersfield Police Department said on Friday, October 9, at around 1:45 p.m., the department had a call for a report of a missing person in the 6200 block of Trinidad Court, near Ashe Road and Panama Lane.
Police said through investigation, it is believed a woman entered the canal behind the home.
According to police, a body of a woman was found in the canal in the area of East Panama Lane and Cottonwood Road.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office was called.
Police said this is an active investigation.
